The Lainzer Zoo is located in a nature protection zone in the 13th district of Vienna with the area of 2500ha in the south Viennese forest. The zone extends over the recreational area of the western residential estate of the city between the Vienna River and Liesingbach dale. Free entrance!
In the Lainzer Zoo local forest animals live in free nature! Surrounding wall prevents animals to run away. Roe deers, harts, wild boars and moufflons are living here. You can see some of them in compounds near the entrance on the Lainzer gate.
